"Melodic sculpture" is a collection of works that emerged as an album from a single photo.
It is not an easy task for me to compile the electronica tracks that I have been making intermittently into an album. An album needs to have a cohesive atmosphere, and I don't think an album is just a collection of unrelated songs. However, I don't think about the album in any particular conceptual way.
The artwork for this work is a photograph of the ocean. I am photographing the distant sea from a high place, but the brightness is uneven because it is covered in clouds, rain falls in the dark areas, and the sun is shining in the bright areas. I felt that the complex, ambiguous situation and desolate feel were perfect for this work's artwork. After the artwork was decided, I selected the tracks and finished them one by one. I think "melodic sculpture" is a winter album.
The album "melodic sculpture" has a feel of ambient techno & electronica, and I pursued a new area of expression within myself. Although it is an album with a winter image, it is melodic music that allows you to feel the warmth of the sound even in the desolate and cold scenery.
The album was mastered by Ueda Takayasu of singing frog studio.
This may not be of much interest to listeners, but we thoroughly examined the final sound during mastering, and created the ideal sound while exchanging opinions with Mr. Ueda. I wanted to create works and sounds for this album that people would listen to for a long time and not get tired of, so although it took some time, I'm very happy that I was able to achieve that sound.
While I was creating the tracks, I started hearing melodic sounds all over the place, so I felt like I was carving the melody out of the object, which is why the title of this work comes from. I was reminded of this during the mastering process. From the shape that has been carved out during production, while adding subtle nuances, the unnecessary parts are removed again. I think mastering was like that.
I may be explaining the details a little too much. However, the mastering process wasn't just a work, it was more creative than usual (and of course the whole process), so I thought I'd write about it.
lastly. However, technical notes that seem essential
One thing I would like to add is that this album can be listened to with the volume turned up. In recent years, recordings have been packed with high volume sound, so the music can be heard overall even at a lower volume. However, if you turn up the volume, the volume will become so loud that you will want to cover your ears. This work doesn't get too noisy even when you turn up the volume, and you can hear the nuances of the various sounds, which I think will lead to many discoveries. I created the sound with ueda through mastering, so I'd be happy if you could listen to it and enjoy it.
Happy, disturbing, creepy and funny. Warmth in the harsh winter. Straight and twisted. Nihilistically dramatic. Empty. Sufficiency/lack. Loneliness. The end. departure. etc. .
